Indians beat Cubs 6-0 in Game 1 of World Series

The Cleveland Indians defeated the Chicago Cubs in Game 1 of the World Series, 6-0, in Cleveland.

The Cubs went up early, scoring two runs in the first. Indians catcher Roberto Perez made it a three-run game with a solo home run in the fourth off Cubs starter Jon Lester. Meanwhile, on the mound for Cleveland, Corey Kluber set a World Series record, striking out eight of the first nine batters he faced. Kluber would finish his day going six solid for the tribe.

The Cubs loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh, but were unable to capitalize, coming up completely empty. They threatened again in the eighth inning with runners on the corner, but were once again held in check by Indians reliever Andrew Miller.

Perez hit his second home run of the night in the bottom of the eighth - a three run homer - to close the game out.
