(ABC) -- Hunting season is starting. In our mostly rural area there are some precautions we should take to keep our pets and us safe. Dolores Glytas answers all the pet precaution questions we have this season.
Q. What are some things we should be aware of?
A. Many of us live out near open fields and sometimes let our pets go for runs in these fields, or they simply may get out of our yards. If you have any dogs that may be close to or the same tan color as a deer some things you need to realize.
During hunting season keep pets close to home as we just don't know where hunters might be.
Every year new hunters come out and might not know property boundaries.
Q. What are some other ways to safe guard our pets?
A. Now is the time to switch to blaze orange! It can be a simple collar, a vest or even get a small kid's T-shirt to put on your pet, especially if you are letting your pet run.
