STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WAOW) -

UPDATE: A 16-year-old runaway has been located in Racine County, according to the Portage County Sheriff's Department. Officials say they have no information regarding her status.

Rayna Griffin was last seen on Sunday in downtown Stevens Point. Officials say she left a group home in the Town of Hull with a registered sex offender. He was later arrested on a probation violation.

No other information was released.

The man who was seen leaving a home in the Town of Hull with 16 year-old Rayna Griffin has a history with runaway teenage girls, according to Portage County court records.

Portage County Sheriff Mike Lukas said that 21 year-old Terry Warren was seen with Griffin on Saturday.

According to a criminal complaint, Warren was arrested in 2014 for sexually assaulting a 13 year-old girl who ran away from home. Warren was 18 at the time.

Warren was taken into custody in Wisconsin Rapids, but was not with the teen, police said.

After Warren was arrested, police said 34 year-old Elliot Adams was a "person of interest" in the case. Adams was arrested on Monday, Lukas said.

Residents who live in the small town, like Larry Weir, said he was in disbelief that something like that could happen in his own backyard.

"I was just shocked. I mean, this is such a nice community," he said. "I just don't think it's the big cities or anything. These people are opportunists."

According to experts, runaway teens are more susceptible to being taken advantage of.

"They believe these people are their friends. They believe these people are going to take care of them," said Jane Graham Jennings, Executive Director of the Women's Community in Wausau. "This is true with sexual exploitation and trafficking. That's usually the way it happens."

Police did not say if that is the case with Griffin, but said the teen was last seen in downtown Stevens Point Sunday, unharmed, and is not believed to be in any danger.
