Emergency crews responded to an electrical fire on a utility pole in Wausau Monday afternoon.
Crews were called to the neighborhood on the city's east side around 12:30 p.m.
When the fire department arrived on scene on the 1500 block of Adams court, a utility worker was trapped in a boom truck that was touching power lines.
Battalion Chief Paul Czarapata said the worker was able to get down safely by rigging himself to a tree. He was not injured.
To put out the fire, crews got in a separate boom truck to get close to the flames, and used fire extinguishers on the blaze.
Neighbors tell Newsline 9 they heard a loud pop and then the power went out.
After the fire was put out, WPS isolated the section of wires involved so the truck could be untangled safely.
Parents left in the dark about a school threat in Tomahawk are speaking out.
