Authorities pulled a vehicle from Lake Kegonsa in Stoughton shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday, according to our sister-station WKOW-TV.
The Dane County Sheriff's Office said rescuers were called to the area of 3302 Quam Dr. for a report of a vehicle in the water about 20-30 feet from shore.
There was no one inside, and the license plates had been removed from the vehicle.
Officials said there were keys in the car. They said they believe someone took the vehicle, went for a joyride and ended up in the lake.
They said the car was mostly submerged underwater and the windows were cracked.
Authorities are working to get in contact with the owner of the vehicle.
They said the scene is still under investigation.
