Wine and Cheese event draws big crowd in Stevens Point

Hundreds of people gathered to support the Boys and Girls Club at the Stevens Point Airport Friday evening.

It was the annual "Taste of Wine and Cheese" event.

Besides wine and cheese tasting, attendees could also eat other food and bid on various silent auction items.

Organizers say it brings in around $150,000 for the Portage County club each year. Those proceeds help support Boys and Girls Club programs.

A new vehicle for the club was on display as well. Several donors pitched in and bought it for the club to help deliver meals to children in Portage County.

"In the course of a year we serve almost 100,000 meals and we needed a way to get the meals out to the different locations, so now we have a Meal Mobile," said Kevin Quevillon, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County.

"The best part about that is we don't just get to serve meals like cold lunches," added Brittany Von Ebers, who helped coordinate the event. "We'll be able to start serving warm food, and that is a huge help for all of our kids."

Newsline 9 is a proud sponsor of the event.
