MARATHON CITY, Wis. (WAOW) -

She's taking her big game to the Big Apple.

After averaging 37.8 points per game this past season at UW-Marathon County, Morgan Rachu announced she will play Division I basketball at Iona College for the final two years of her collegiate career.

This past winter, Rachu capped off an illustrious career at UWMC. She led her team to an undefeated 19-0 record in the WCC and won the state championship on Feb. 25. The 5-foot-6 guard led the Huskies in points (37.8), rebounds (13.8) and steals (5.6). She leaves UWMC as the all-time leading scorer with 1,085 points.

Before her time at UWMC, Rachu, a 2016 graduate of Marathon High School, compiled a 90-13 record during her time as a Red Raider including back-to-back trips to state in her junior and senior years.

Rachu is joining a budding mid-major program. Iona College won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament championship in 2016 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. The Gaels also won the league title in 2014 and have qualified for the postseason WNIT five times.
