Police: Second woman sexually harassed in UWSP parking lot

A second female student was threatened at UW-Stevens Point last week when she heard a suspect say "gang bang" from a nearby car, according to UWSP Police.

Police said a woman was walking to Lot T around 3 p.m. Friday when a car with three people in it honked at her. A man in the back asked if she wanted to "hang out," but she said no and kept walking, police said.

That's when the woman said she heard someone from the car say "gang bang." Police said a light-skinned black man left the car and started to follow her.

Police said the woman called a friend on her cellphone and the suspect left her alone. The suspect never made physical contact with woman, police said.

The woman drove away and got to a safe place before calling campus police, according to authorities.

The suspect - who police said is around 6'2" to 6'5" tall - was wearing a red beanie cap. The other two people in the car were not described.

The vehicle seen in the lot is a small, four-door tan car, according to police.

This is the second threatening incident in a UW-Stevens Point parking lot in the last week. Last Thursday a woman reported that she was was sexually assaulted in a parking lot and that she fought off an attacker with her car keys before driving away.

The suspect in that situation was described as a white male, approximately 6’2” tall, with short brown hair. He may have a cut on his face from being struck by the car keys, police said.

University police responded to the attack by surrounding the area and searched for the suspect but didn't find him, the statement said.

If you have any information about the assault contact University Police at 715-346-3456 or the Stevens Point Police Department at 715-346-1500.
