Riverlife Park project moves forward with changes

Several changes are coming to the Riverlife development.

The Wausau city council voted unanimously to award the Riverlife Park project to Miron Construction.

The plan is to create a park area north of the Wausau On the Water restaurant.

Because the original designs came with a higher price tag than anticipated, the city had some features cut.

"Climbing wall, the 40 yard dash, and some of the game activities, but hopefully we can bring those back through private donations," said Wausau Mayor Robert Mielke. "I'm excited, it's just one more thing that we've got done, moving forward, just as we should be."

The removal of those features saves the project over $600,000.

The project will still cost $4.7 million, paid for by donations, grants and debt borrowing.

The Riverlife Park is expected to be completed by October of 2018.
