Omro students get national attention for Smart Window

A group of Omro High School students were on Good Morning America Wednesday as part of a tech competition.

The students were in a group of 10 finalists for the national Solve for Tomorrow competition through Samsung.

The Omro students traveled to New York City to present their idea to a panel of judges. They created a "smart window" to save energy in the school. It has an adjustable shade to reflect sunlight away in the summer and allow more light into the building in winter.

The final three finalists were announced Wednesday on Good Morning America. Omro didn't quite make the cut, but they have so much to be proud of.

The top three were Ashland Middle School, Ashland, Ky.; Cavallini Middle School, Upper Saddle River, N.J.; and Thomas Jefferson Middle School, Winston-Salem, N.C.

The three teams each receive $150,000 in Samsung products for the classroom.
