Political expert reacts to Paul Ryan's decision

Political experts in central Wisconsin weighed in on House Speaker Paul Ryan's decision Wednesday to not seek re-election.

Eric Giordano, Director of Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service said Ryan hasn't had an easy time while serving as speaker.

"It's been a very difficult position for Paul Ryan especially... working with the Trump administration and getting the agenda done that he wants done in the way he wants to do it," Giordano said. "I think you couple that with a very tough re-election and the possibility of a blue wave as people are calling it, there's a lot of things stacked up against Paul Ryan."

Governor Scott Walker, Congressman Sean Duffy and many other lawmakers spoke out about Ryan's decision.  Many wishing the Speaker well wishes for both him and his family.

"The fact he didn't stay on to run for the election, it must have been a tough decision no doubt but I think does signal a tough road for the republicans," Giordano said.

Speaker Paul Ryan will retire in January.
