UPDATE: Fire chief says no cause yet for Mosinee house fire

How a fire erupted in a garage and severely damaged a home remained a mystery Thursday, Mosinee Interim Fire Chief Stephen Haas said.

"Nothing really has developed," he said. "The garage is destroyed but the house has heavy, smoke, heat and water damage."

The blaze at the home on Tenth Street erupted about 5 p.m. Wednesday.

A man and woman were inside their home when the fire started and they got out safely as the flames quickly spread, Haas said, adding there was no vehicle in the garage at the time.

The scene has been turned over to insurance investigators, the fire chief said.
