Federal agent from Oconomowoc accused of raping three women pleads not guilty

WAUKESHA, Wis. (WISN) -

A federal agent from Oconomowoc, who is accused of raping three women, appeared in Waukesha County Court on Wednesday.

According to a criminal complaint, one woman alleged that David Scharlat, 53, sexually assaulted her twice, including one time at an Oconomowoc hotel.

She said his gun was on the nightstand, and he was wearing his badge.

The two other incidents are alleged to have happened in Brookfield and Hartland last year.

The prosecutor referred to Scharlat as a "serial rapist." The defense the sex was consensual.

Scharlat pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was ordered to pay $10,000 bond and is out of jail.

He will wear a GPS surveillance bracelet and is scheduled to be back in court June 8.
