UW-Stevens Point students devote their time planning for Trivia 49

Students at the UW-Stevens Point radio station have worked for months preparing for the world's largest trivia contest.

For nearly five decades, people from all over the world have participated in the WWSP 90FM Trivia contest. 2018 marks the contest's 49th year, with this year's theme being "Rush for Trivia."

90FM student staff members said they have devoted much of their time for the big, 54-hour event.

"After the theme was picked, we kicked in gear in January for this weekend," public relations director Ben Kurowski said.

The 11 staff members each play a role to bring together the iconic weekend, and hope to make it better each year.

They also make sure volunteers and equipment are taken care of.

"A lot of work goes into it and we have to try and juggle that with school," station manager Katy Strebe said.

Directors said it's a great opportunity for all students involved because they learn skills they may need post-graduation.

The celebration of the contest kicks off with a parade at 4 p.m. Friday, followed by the start of the competition at 6 p.m.
