Email accuses high school girl of calling herself daughter of Slender Man
OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (WISN) -
A local high school student is accused of calling herself the daughter of Slender Man.
The claim came from a fellow student at Oconomowoc High School.
The freshman student shared her concerns Wednesday in a mass email to staff and the entire freshman class. She was worried the other student may be capable of hurting herself or others at the school.
"I am writing this email to tell you of a problematic student in the school who, in my personal opinion, is a threat to myself and others.” the student wrote.
The email says that the student in question "believes she is the daughter of Slender Man, (and we know what happened to the last time Wisconsin girls were involved with Slender Man)."
Another passage of the email reads, "She wanted me to join her and two other girls in a cult-like group called the 'Trinity Sisters.'"
Oconomowoc school officials released a statement saying they investigated the claims and concluded there was never a threat to students and staff. Many parents and students say the email doesn’t worry them.
“I really didn’t think twice about it because it’s so common nowadays, and I really wasn’t too concerned,” said Nicole Gronitz, who is the parent of a freshman student.
“I think more people were concerned that this shouldn’t have gone out. I don’t think anyone really found it as a threat. It was more just this wasn’t something right to say to someone else,” said junior Alexis Zimmerman.
Curtis sent an email to parents letting them know about the situation. He said the mass email "caused unnecessary concern and fear." He also encouraged students who have safety concerns to tell a trusted teacher in private.
