CARLTON COUNTY, Minn. (WAOW)-- A Wisconsin Rapids man who police believe was shot by his nephew Friday in Minnesota has died.

Andrew Gokee, 57, was shot in the head in Carlton County, according to the sheriff's office. According to officials with UW-Stevens Point, Gokee worked in the Native American Center at the school for more than 20 years. He retired in 2017.

The suspect, 32-year-old James Montano of Bayfield remains in custody in the county jail.

A second victim, Hudson Gauthier of Stevens Point, was also wounded. The 38-year-old reportedly had a superficial gunshot wound and was treated by EMS at the scene but was not taken to a hospital.

The suspect was found in woods nearby with a gunshot wound to the chest after an extensive air search was conducted by the Minnesota State Patrol Air Wing Unit.
