Boy dies after fall from truck cab in Grant County

WOODMAN TOWNSHIP (WKOW) -- Grant County authorities say a four-year-old boy has died after he fell out the passenger side of a farm truck Friday night.

Sheriff Nate Dreckman says the accident happened when Kage Wachter was sitting next to the door in a Ford F450 truck being driven by Jason Wachter, 45.

Investigators say they were driving east between farms on CTH C in Woodman Township, approaching the intersection of Hwy 133, when the door opened. Kage fell to the ground and was run over by the truck's rear tires.

Jason and another passerby began CPR until deputies and other emergency responders arrived, but they weren't able to revive the four-year-old.

Ford's internet site says the curb weight of an F450 truck can range from 8,280 to 8,600 pounds.

Dreckman says the crash, the second deadly auto accident in Grant County this year, is still being investigated.
