Stratford man pleads no contest to 7th OWI since 1994

WAUSAU (WAOW) - A 46-year-old Stratford man pleaded no contest Thursday to his seventh offense of drunken driving since 1994, according to online Marathon County court records.

James Scott Glenn was arrested March 24 in rural Marathon County when a vehicle was discovered in a ditch, with him sitting in the passenger seat and claiming a friend was driving, according to a criminal complaint.

No sentencing date was immediately set, but in a plea bargain prosecutors agreed to recommend no more than five years in prison and five years extended supervision as punishment, court records said.

Glenn claimed his friend was walking westbound on County Road P but a state trooper reported he had saw now one walking and about two miles away a homeowner reported no one had stopped needing help, the complaint said.

Glenn's first conviction for operating while intoxicated happened in January 1994, the complaint said. Two months later, he was convicted of a second offense in Marathon County. The others were in New York in 1997, 2001 and 2009 and in Illinois in 2015.
