Colby school officials, law enforcement receive active shooter drill feedback

COLBY, Wis. (WAOW) -

Parents, law enforcement and school officials met Thursday night because of a recent active shooter drill that sparked panic at Colby High School.

Dozens were in attendance at the Colby High School theater for the meeting.
Officials discussed the recent active shooter drill where blank rounds were used.
Parents were notified of the drill minutes before it started Monday afternoon.
Police say they received mostly positive feedback at the meeting.

"We did hear one negative comment," said Colby-Abbotsford Police Chief Jason Bauer. "Basically they were upset about the short notification that the school did give, but we heard much more positive feedback than we did negative."

In addition to the drill discussion, officials and parents talked about implementing a Colby school resource officer.

They also gave attendees an overview of the training program school staff undergoes, called ALICE.
