Fallen Det. Jason Weiland honored in Washington D.C.

Fallen Everest Metro Detective Jason Weiland's name was read aloud in front of thousands of people, forever memorialized alongside the other lives lost in the line of duty.

Weiland was shot and killed March 22, 2017 in a shooting rampage in Marathon County.

Former Wausau Police Captain Greg Hagenbucher read Weiland's name. He was one of 360 officers names read at the candlelight vigil Sunday evening.

Weiland's name is now etched into the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

Roughly 100 of his friends, family and fellow officers were in the crowd as his name was read. Before the names were read, there were special remarks made by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Afterward, there was a candlelight vigil and musical tributes.
