WISCONSIN DELLS (WKOW) — A dispute over a chair led to a violent brawl over the weekend at a Wisconsin Dells resort..

Witness Joey Ney, who shot the video Saturday at Mt. Olympus Resort, told WISN news that the fight broke out between two families. Other people then got involved, throwing punches and furniture.

The video is publicly available on Facebook HERE and below, although viewers are cautioned that the violence is graphic.

Police say the fight ended when they arrived. They learned the fight started after a person took a chair from a different group’s table within the water park.

In a statement, Mt Olympus said they are very disappointed to have had the altercation over the weekend.

"Guest safety is always our first priority. We are thankful that no one was seriously injured. We would like to thank the Lake Delton police department for their quick response. This is now a police matter and we are cooperating fully," the statement read.

Lake Delton Police tell 27 News they are looking into what happened, and the department released the following statement:

On Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 4:15pm, Lake Delton Police were dispatched to a report of a disturbance at Mount Olympus Water and Theme Park located  in the 1800 block of Wisconsin Dells Pkwy (Hwy 12). The report to Sauk County Dispatch was of several individuals involved in a physical altercation. Upon police arrival, the fighting had stopped.

The investigating officers questioned several involved parties at the scene. Police additionally acquired video footage taken by bystanders on cellular devices during the fight. That footage was also posted to social media. The video footage did depict a rather violent encounter between several people.

Police learned that the fight started over something as ridiculous as a person taking a chair from a different group’s table within the water park. Police will continue to investigate the event, which will include the comparison of the video footage to the statements made during the field interviews conducted by police.

This is an ongoing investigation and further information will not be available at this time. Lake Delton Police Department anticipates charges in the future. Lake Delton Police Chief Daniel Hardman said he is disappointed that cooler heads did not prevail in this scenario and that the responsible parties allowed this event to escalate to such an extreme level inside a family oriented business. The Wisconsin Dells area is a family centered community and this event is not indicative of what to expect in our community.

Lake Delton Police were assisted at the scene by Mount Olympus Staff and Dells-Delton EMS.
