WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) -

Local business, young professionals, and students are stepping into the spotlight for a new city project.

The "My Wausome Story" campaign kicked off this week, aiming to show off all of the opportunities the city has to give.

"Just looking at all the good that's happening here, from the arts scene and the food scene, and the sense of community and place," said Aplomb PR CEO Elizabeth Knight.

Directors said the mission is to share stories of people's success and showcase why others should choose to live and work in Wausau.

The campaign will highlight several different people throughout the year.

One participant, Jacqui Miller, works for S.C. Swiderski as a real estate and marketing manager. She shares her story about moving back to the community.

"I just didn't think that there would be a lot of professional opportunities here after college," Miller said. "But now I was really excited on what I found."

The campaign will go on until the end of the year. Directors said if it's successful, they will try to bring it back each year.

If you want to get involved you can visit the city's website.
