UPDATE: Several people of interest in accidental fatal drug overdose case

Marathon County Sheriff's officials have several people of in interest, related to a case in which a man man was found dead in a Marathon City motel room closet.

28-year-old Brian Kienast's body was found April 19th at the Village Inn motel.

Captain Greg Bean with the Marathon County Sheriff's Department said, people of interest could face a felony charge of hiding a corpse.

The people of interest are in custody on unrelated charges, so the public is not in any danger, Bean said.

Marathon County Sheriff, Scott Parks, said it appears Kienast died of an accidental heroin overdose.

Bean said, Kienast died in late November, and his body had been in the closet until it was discovered in April.

According to authorities, the cold weather helped preserve the body, which helped the toxicology analysis.

The odor of the body led the motel owners to the room where Kienast was discovered.

Bean said, the department believes people who have information about the case are staying tight lipped, which is hurting the investigation.
