Wisconsin court clears way for large-scale dairy farm
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The state Supreme Court is clearing the way for a large-scale dairy farm in central Wisconsin.
Golden Sands Dairy wants to create a 6,400-acre farm in Wood County. A state appeals court blocked the project in 2017 because the Town of Saratoga re-zoned the land for preservation four months after the dairy filed a building permit application.
The Supreme Court reversed the appellate ruling Tuesday. The court ruled in a 5-2 decision that once a building permit application is filed the applicant has a right to use all of the property as it's zoned at the time of the permit filing.
The town's attorney, Remzy Bitar, didn't immediately reply to an email.
