Tomahawk falls to Poynette 2-0 in state championship

Poynette's Mattie Bredeson held Tomahawk to just one hit in seven innings, as the Poynette Pumas win the 3A state championship 2-0.

Tomahawk's Rachel Dallman gave up just five hits, and two earned runs in the loss.

The Pumas scored their first run in the fourth. Peyton Kingslund stole third, and the throw went wide, allowing her to score.

Then in the sixth, Ashley Hellenbrand tripled to right with one out, and then comes home to score on a groundout RBI by Molly Anderson.

That would be all the Pumas need, as they blank the Hatchets 2-0.

"It was a really great feeling to be able to play in the championship game. That was our goal for a very long time. And even though we didn't come out on top, it was still amazing senior year, and for all the other seniors to to come out with a medal, and go home knowing we played our best," said senior pitcher Rachel Dallman.

"My girls, you know what, they have everything to be proud of. It was a tremendous tournament series, tremendous run. They believed in what we set as our goal, to win a state championship, and we got here, we gave ourselves an opportunity, and we're going to remember this one," Head Coach John Larson said.
