Missing sex offender removes GPS for second time

A registered sex offender is on the loose after removing his tracking bracelet, the Marathon County Sheriffs Department said Thursday.

Floyd Romatowski, 60, removed the GPS device, which he is required to wear for life, about a week ago and did not report to the state Corrections Department, the sheriff department's reported on Facebook.

This is the second time Romatowski has cut off his bracelet. In 2010 he was on the run for nearly a week.

Romatowski is on supervision for second-degree sexual assault of a child, investigators said. He also has prior convictions for operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent, first-degree sexual assault of a child and failure to register as a sex offender.

A warrant was issued for Romatowski's arrest, and people were advised not approach him, the post said.

If you have any information about Romatowski's whereabouts contact the Marathon County Sheriff's Office at 715-261-1200, Marathon County Crime Stoppers at 877-409-8777 or your local law enforcement agency.
