Schofield residents pleading for property answers

A group of Schofield neighbors are desperate for answers, weeks after they discovered land under their homes is owned by the Canadian National Railway.

They live on Depot Street, and they said they're not getting any word from the city about the future of their properties.

Records obtained by News 9 show their homes lay across property lines. The city said they just realized this earlier this year, when they were looking into what to do with an abandoned home on the street.

Those who live in the area are very concerned about what might happen to them, and said the city has given them little information.

"It's frustrating," said Joyce Lawrence, who lives in one of the homes in question. "And then you ask the question and you get [nothing]," she added with a shrug.

News 9 stopped by Schofield City Hall Friday. The zoning administrator was in, but would not speak with us on camera or give us any details about what their plans were for the property. They just told us they're "working with the railroad company."

Meanwhile, the Canadian National Railway only told us they are "working with the city."
