New details in Wausau weekend shooting

Court documents give new insight about a dramatic scene that unfolded on a Wausau street over the weekend.

Matthew Robinson is accused of firing a gun inside a home on North 6th Street, with his five kids nearby, according to a criminal complaint.

Police told neighbors to stay inside Saturday morning, but they were cleared around 10 a.m., after police found that the suspect was not inside the home.

According to court documents, Robinson is accused of dragging a woman around the front yard of the house, punching her Friday and then shooting off a shotgun Saturday morning. The complaint said he shot the gun both outside and inside the house. It went on to say he told the woman, "I am going to kill you."

No one was hurt from the shots fired.

The District Attorney's office laid out parts of what happened over the weekend in court Monday, "He at one point held a gun to her head and said he was going to kill her,"

"Anytime there's a situation particularly of this caliber, where there's going to be some victims there's going to be some who were exposed to a traumatic situation, we want to find the person responsible for this, we want to help that person that was involved or victimized," Captain Todd Baeten of Wausau Police Department said.

An anonymous tip led police to Robinson at Motel 6 in Rothschild Sunday where he was arrested. He is charged with multiple counts of domestic abuse including felony strangulation and suffocation.
