DA: Georgia man threatened to shoot people, kill cop in Colby

WAUSAU (WAOW) - A Georgia man threatened to shoot people at a Colby bowling alley and when an officer arrived to investigate, the man called him a racist and "told me he was going to find me later and kill me," according to a criminal complaint.

Samuel Lingle, 29, was charged with one felony - threat to a law enforcement officer - and one misdemeanor - disorderly conduct - in the incident about 1:30 a.m. Thursday at Bowl Winkle's.

Police said a man at the bar said Lingle asked him to buy him a beer and the man told him to "get a job and buy his own beer," the complaint said.

Lingle got angry, slammed a stool to the floor, told everyone he had a gun in his pocket and would use it to kill the man "and anyone else who got in his way," the complaint said.

The bartender and others urged Lingle to calm down and convinced him to go outside for a cigarette and to talk and when he did, the bartender locked the doors and called police, the complaint said.

An officer from the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department found Lingle, told him to remove his hands from his pockets and Lingle threw his "money all over the ground," the complaint said.

As the officer went to restrain Lingle, he "told me I was racist" and "told me he was going to find me later and kill me," the complaint said.

A search of Lingle, of Pembrooke, Ga.,  found a folding knife in his pocket but no gun, the officer reported.
