Balloon and Rib fest watching weather on opening day

Many people are keeping an eye on the forecast as Wausau Events Balloon and Rib Fest kicks off, with potential severe weather heading its way.

The fireworks are still set to go for opening night but have been pushed up to 9:15 due to the weather threats.

The balloon glow is still scheduled to go on at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Despite the possible wet night, most people will go to the event, rain or shine.  The smokers are still cooking the BBQ and the balloon trailers are out getting ready for the glow.

Organizers said they keep a close eye on multiple radars to determine if any delays or cancellations need to be made.

"We stay in contact with the National Weather Service, we check radars constantly, it's pretty much on my home screen the whole time.," Sara Hujar, Wausau Events Organizer said.

You can check their Facebook page for the latest on any of those possible delays or cancellations.
