Security to increase after meth found outside Mosinee Elementary School

Mosinee parents alarmed after illegal drugs are found in the parking lot of an elementary school there.

The bag was found by a teacher going into Mosinee Elementary School Tuesday morning.

The police chief confirmed the substance was white and powdery, testing positive for methamphetamine.

The situation is still under investigation by the Mosinee Police Department, and they're trying to figure out who dropped it.

In the meantime, parents are concerned for their children's safety.

"It's very scary, especially considering we have some very young kids here attending summer school," said parent Casey Negoshian. "We have kids as young as three years old, four years old, five years old, so it is very concerning as both a parent and a staff member. "

The superintendent hopes parents will talk to their kids, reminding them not to pick up strange things off the ground and tell an adult if they find something strange.

Parents and teachers at the school receiving a letter saying a police officer will be at the school during drop off and pick up times to ensure student safety.
