WAUSAU (WAOW) - About two hours after Wausau police posted surveillance video of Saturday night's attempted armed robbery at BMW Fuel Mart, a 20 year-old man walked into the police department and admitted his role in the crime, police said Tuesday.

Devonte Scoles was arrested early Monday night and about three hours later a suspected accomplice, Joshua Pregont, 31, the gunman in the holdup, was arrested in Marathon Park as a passenger in a vehicle, Capt. Ben Graham said. The pistol believed used in the attempted robbery was recovered

The video, released about 5 p.m. Monday, shows two men walking into the fuel mart, also known as Clark Gas Station, flashing a gun, demanding money and checking out a cash register before the clerk pushed them out of the store and locked the door.

No one was hurt.

Police are recommending Scoles be charged with participating in attempted armed robbery and Pregont with attempted armed robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm, Graham said.
