DA: Man offered Xbox, $500 for oral sex with Merrill boy he met online

A 28-year-old Wisconsin National Guard soldier is charged with sexually assaulting a Lincoln County boy that he met online, according to Marathon County court records.

Anthony McWhorter of Green Bay is accused of giving the child, 15, an Xbox and $500 in exchange for giving the boy oral sex, court records say.

The assault happened Friday at the Plaza Hotel in Wausau, according to the criminal complaint.

When confronted, McWhorter told police he met the boy online and denied any sexual contact.

The boy's grandmother noticed something was bothering the teen on Sunday, leading to a police investigation, the complaint said.

McWhorter admitted  he gave the boy the money and the gaming system because he was “trying to be nice," the complaint said.

Police said McWhorter initially told authorities he was 19.

The National Guard confirmed to News 9 McWhorter is a member, based in Marinette.

He told authorities he was looking to transfer to Maryland in the near future, according to court records.

A judge ordered McWhorter jailed on a $50,000 cash bond. He was charged Tuesday with four felonies, including second-degree sexual assault of a child and using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.
