Wood County gearing up for busiest primary night election

Wood County will have the most names on the ballot than any other county in central Wisconsin.

Anticipations are so high that the county clerk Trent Miner is expecting  close to 50 percent of voter turnout.

Sheriff Thomas Reichert has been in office since 2005 and decided not to seek re-election.

Four candidates are vying for his seat with two democrats and two republicans.

"Wow we weren't expecting to see that many people," Miner said.

Brad Kremer and Cindy Joosten are competing against each other for the Clerk of Circuit Courts position.

Scott Brehm and Linda Stankey are both republicans they are competing for the county coroner title.

The winner will take on Dara Hamm.

"I looked back at different things we have in the office here for historical perspective there is nothing out there that compares to what we are seeing this time", Miner said.

There are 38,000 registered voters in Wood County and 19,000 ballots have been ordered.
