Tony's garden fresh vegetable soup

DORCHESTER (WAOW) -- Here's the recipe for Tony's Garden Fresh Vegetable Soup:

2 peeled and cubed potatoes

2 to 3 carrots, skinned and sliced

1 cup chopped fresh green beans

1/2 cup fresh peas

1 medium onion, chopped finely

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

1 tablespoon butter

1 cup milk

Heat vegetables in 3 cups of salted water over medium heat on stove until they are soft, about 20-30 minutes. Don't add the peas until the last 10 minutes, or they will get very mushy and fall apart. Drain off approximately half of the water. Add the pepper, butter and milk and return to low heat for another 10 minutes or so.

Options: Add other spices and vegetables to your liking such as garlic, chives, italion seasoning, kalrabe, or even freshly ground dill. Serves about 4 to 6 people.
