(WAOW) - The Marathon legion baseball team wins its Class A state opener 7-1 against host Lomira-Theresa.  Tyler Hamann picks up the win.

Merrill scored three runs against Antigo in the top of the first in the Class AA state tournament in Merrill.  That final score was not reported.

Wausau opens Class AAA state tournament play Saturday in La Crosse against the host team.

The Wisconsin Woodchucks defeat the Rochester Honkers 3-2.  Bobby Pritchett picks up the win by pitching six innings, allowing one runs on five hits while striking out eight.

The Larry Detjens race holds twice the meaning this year.  First and foremost it honors the local racing star who lost his life on the track back in 1981.  It's also part of the Wisconsin Challenge Series at Golden Sands Speedway.  Eugene Gregorich wins it for the second year in a row.  Chris Wimmer is sixth... he's Larry's nephew.  You can see a recap of this race with Jana Jurkovich at 6pm Saturday.
