WAUSA (WAOW) -- Wearing a seatbelt can be the difference between life and death in a car crash.
Area kids can now see that difference close-up: through a rollover simulator. AAA Wisconsin has given a similar simulator to six departments now throughout the state, and Wausau is the latest. Kids watched today as buckled up dummies stayed put in their seats-- but ones who didn't wear their seatbelts flew out the windows.
Wisconsin seatbelt use actually is one of the lowest in the country, a little over 75-percent. Police hope kids will think twice when they get in a car and remember to buckle up.
The simulator is available at the Wausau police department for check out- almost like a library book.
