TOWN OF KNOWLTON -- The search continues for the missing boater in Lake Du Bay.

A deputy from Marathon County Sheriff's Department tells Newsline 9 52 year old Patrick Winnie of Schofield went missing while on a pontoon boat with 41 year old Kara Estrada of Wausau.

Marathon County Deputy Marshall Schjoneman says a call came in around 3:30 Sunday afternoon from Estrada who had been on the boat with Winnie.

Searchers believe Winnie ended up in the water while helping Estrada after she fell out of the pontoon boat they were in.

The woman has multiple sclerosis, and police say it appears she may have suffered from heat stroke.

Estrada is coherent now.. and she is helping police with the search.

"We took her and some of her family members out on the lake... kind of recreating the path that they took where the incident happened.  She was very helpful in narrowing down the search area," Deputy Schjoneman says.

Divers plan to continue the search into the evening... primarily using sonar to detect objects on the lake bottom.

Winnie's family members are also helping with the search.

His sons say they're thankful for all the help they've received and that they're proud their dad may have given up his life by saving someone else's.
