West grad switches from Badger wrestling to football

MADISON (WAOW) - Wausau West graduate Jordan Hein overcame a life-threatening car accident to earn a wrestling scholarship to Wisconsin.  Now he attempts to play football for the Badgers.

This follows three years with the U-W wrestling program (including one redshirt season).  That's a long time away from football but he's trying to earn playing time on their defensive line.

Jordan Hein: "I'm coming in where these guys having been working on stuff all summer and I'm hearing things for the first time. The last five days my head is ready to explode with all the stuff I'm trying to take in. Really it's been great. I just try to keep a positive attitude through everything and try to do my best."

Hein wrestled at heavyweight for the Badgers.  At Wausau West he was a three-time state qualifier and won it all as a senior.  As a football player he won the Win Brockmeyer Award, given to Wausau's most outstanding player.
