WAKE UP WISCONSIN (WAOW)-- This week's winners are the 7th graders at Horace Mann Middle School in Wausau.
The students raised money to buy a pair of goats for a poor family in Kenya and Haiti.
Students raised money in two ways.
First, if they brought in a dollar to donate, they were allowed to wear pajamas to school.
Some students even brought pillows and teddy bears.
Then, for even more fun, the students could get a picture with one of the teacher's goats, Daisy, for another dollar donation.
Many students were generous and donated more than one dollar.
In fact, the fundraiser was SUCH a success, the students were able to buy two goat pairs at 150 dollars a pair!
With a goat, a needy family gets not only milk, but also fertilizer.
Then, the family can sell the offspring for cash to use for housing improvements, education, and whatever they need.
We had the chance to visit the students, and congratulate them on making a difference not only here in our area, but globally.
The seventh graders really got into the holiday spirit and teachers say they had a great time raising money to help others.
The kids adore Daisy the goat, and are happy they raised enough money to give the very same kind of animal to families across the world, who are in need.
