STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WAOW) — Officials at Ben Franklin Middle School in Stevens Point say there was no safety threat to students or staff after a weapon was brought into the building on Tuesday, according to a school email to parents.

Per the email from BFMS Principal Steve Prokop, a student reported to administration Wednesday that another student had a weapon in school.  School officials ” immediately isolated and searched the student,” the email said, before police assisted and helped determine that students or staff at the school were at no risk.

The student did admit, however, to bringing a Co2 airsoft pistol to school Tuesday, the email said.

“Student safety is our first concern. Please know that we are not taking this lightly and disciplinary action will be taken following District policies,” the email read.
