Portage Co. Crime Stoppers: UWSP thefts

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WAOW) — The search is on to find a thief who struck on the UW Stevens Point (UWSP) campus.

The UWSP campus police chief says the man stole at least one wallet and cash from several purses.

"On Saturday, he went into the women's dressing room in the Noel Fine Arts building and witnesses saw him rifling through purses," UWSP Police Chief Tony Babl says. "When they confronted him, he took off."

Surveillance cameras show pictures of the man police want to talk with.

Police describe him as a white male standing about 5'8" with a slight build.

He has long dark hair and wore a green sweatshirt with a Wisconsin logo on the back.
