(WAOW) -- Monday was the deadline for Aspirus employees to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, or get an approved exemption.
Officials with Aspirus said that those who will not meet the deadline voluntarily resigned.
However, they claim the resignations only make up a small portion of their staff.
In a statement, Aspirus said:
"Aspirus supports widespread vaccination as the best protection against COVID-19 infection and serious illness. To provide the safest environment for our patients, families, staff and community members – many of whom may have existing health issues – we have continued with our vaccination program while the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) vaccine mandate is deliberated in the courts.
COVID-19 activity is currently as high in our communities as it has been throughout the pandemic. We encourage all who are eligible to get vaccinated, and to receive a booster."
News 9 has heard from several viewers expressing their concerns over this, but none were willing to speak on camera.
Marshfield Clinic's vaccine deadline was November 15.
