(WAOW) -- If you've been to the grocery store late, you may have noticed an increase of prices on your favorite items.

Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture and Consumer Protection (DATCP) say they've seen about a 3% increase in prices across the board in Wisconsin.

They say this is likely due to significant staffing shortages many industries have seen during the pandemic.

While these increases may be concerning, officials say it's important not to panic.

"One of the things we don't want to encourage is stockpiling because that can only exacerbate an already strained supply chain," said Lara Sutherlin, administrator for the Division of Trade and Consumer Protection with DATCP.

Sutherlin also said these supply chain issues could affect holiday shopping, so it may be a good idea to get that started now.
