STEVENS POINT (WAOW) – A former Stevens Point principal resigned amid allegations of misconduct, according to records released to News 9 Thursday.

Scott Huff began as the Jefferson Elementary principal in July 2018.

The district launched an investigation on Nov. 16 and placed Huff on non-disciplinary administrative leave with pay, according to records.

In a letter to Huff dated Nov. 28, the district said it, “determined Huff violated the district’s policies and expectations in the supervision, restraint and seclusion of a student, not followed directives from supervisor and failed to respond to calls for assistance, made staff feel uncomfortable.”

It said the district would recommend the Board of Education terminate his employment at its Dec. 10 meeting.

Instead, Huff opted to sign a resignation agreement on Nov. 30.

Huff submitted his official letter of resignation on Dec. 19, claiming he didn’t follow seclusion and restraint policies because of a “clerical error in submitting of reports due to not being accustomed to procedures” of the district.

He also said he was unaware he made staff feel uncomfortable.

He added he was resigning due to the stress of the position.

Mike Devine is serving as the interim principal through the end of the school year.
