FDA: Onions cause salmonella outbreak in 37 states

The U.S Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported onions are causing a salmonella outbreak in 37 states, including Wisconsin. 

The FDA said 652 people have reported sickness from the outbreak so far. The agency is advising everyone to avoid whole red, yellow and white onions supplied by Pro Source Inc. 

The onions were imported from Mexico over the summer. 

The contamination is under investigation.
