Five million dollar grant to the Department of Workforce Development with help those impacted by the opioid crisis

WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW)-- A new grant is paving the road for more opportunities for those impacted by substance abuse.

The United States Department of Labor awarded the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) a five million dollar grant last September.

The grant money will provide training, career services and supported services for those dealing or impacted by substance abuse disorder.

Marjean Griggs, Advance Program and Policy Analyst said, "Working to increase the workforce for helping profession, or those professions that might work with someone going through recovery.”

Currently 171 are currently receiving services through the DWD.
