Foods to avoid feeding your pets

WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW)-- As holidays come around the corner, there are a few foods to avoid letting your pets eat off your plate.

It's tempting to give a small treat to household pets, but it's important to remember some food will cause more harm than good.

Dolores Glytas from the Portage County Humane Society wants pet owners to be mindful of what their pets are eating.

"No chocolate no booze, you know let's think about all of that stuff," Glytas said. "Or else you're going to be in the emergency vet with your dog and not having a fun day."

Glytas said to avoid feeding your pet raw meat or anything with bones in it.

For pet owners who want to pass along a special treat on the holidays, food like cooked and unseasoned turkey is safe.
