Area veterans voice their concerns about treatment of Veterans Service Officer

Medford, Wi. (WAOW)--  Over a dozen veterans showed up in support in Taylor County for Taylor County Veterans Service Officer.

Veterans stood and shared statements of dismay about the treatment towards Veterans Service Officer (VSO) Shellie Shaw. Shaw was placed on administrative leave on April 29, 2022.

Board and committee members said they could not comment on why Shaw was placed on leave.

"You may want to know more, some of the people in this room that are on the County board want to know more," Lester Lewis, Taylor county Board of Supervisors. "But that's not available because Mrs. Shaw has rights."

Veterans in attendance said they left the meeting with more questions than answers.

"These girls are unbelievable," one veteran in attendance said. "And if they were not doing their job then why in the world were they so dog gone busy it's unreal."

The finance and personal committee approved for Rusk and Clark County VSO assist Taylor County while Shaw is on leave.
