Wausau East High School football halfway to goal in shoe drive

WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW)--The Wausau East High School football team is halfway to its goal in a shoe drive.

As of Monday 1,250 pairs of shoes have been collected. The team's goal is to collect 2,500 pairs of shoes.

The support from everyone in the community is greatly appreciated.

"I appreciate you. Everybody has been absolutely awesome from the community to our athletes to the parents to our administration here, everybody has been absolutely fantastic about it," said head coach Henry Kremnitzer

The team is working to raise money for next season and through Funds2Orgs the team will be paid based on the total weight of shoes they collect.

Micro-entrepreneurs in the communities Funds2Org works to help them sell the shoes for money to use for their businesses.

Shoes can be dropped off at Wausau East Highschool, the Longfellow Administration Center located on Seymour Street, Wausau City Hall, the Woodson YMCA, Thrive and First United Churches.
